Vital Statistics of the United States, 1995
Volume I, Natality

This Internet release of Vital Statistics of the United States, 1995, Volume I, Natality, includes a total of 39 tables. Production of a CD-ROM containing these tables is currently in process.  Comparable tables for the1994, 1997,  1998 and 1999 data years were published in Vital Statistics of the United States, 1994, Volume I, Natality, Vital Statistics of the United States, 1997, Volume I, Natality, Vital Statistics of the United States, 1998, Volume I, Natality, and Vital Statistics of the United States, 1999, Volume I, Natality, available on CD-ROM and on the Internet. The 1995 Natality Technical Appendix describes the data contained in the tables in this Internet release.

 NOTE: Population-based rates included in the report, “Report of Final Natality Statistics, 1995,” and “Vital Statistics of the United States, 1995, Volume I, Natality,” are based on postcensal population estimates consistent with the 1990 census. Rates for these years have recently been revised using more accurate population estimates based on the results of the 2000 census, and are available at: http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/ data/nvsr/nvsr51/nvsr51_12.pdf  The 1990 based estimates are used in this report for consistency with reports in the series that have already been published and will not be reissued.  The cohort-fertility rates included in “Vital Statistics of the United States, 1995, Volume I, Natality,” are based on postcensal population estimates consistent with the 1990 census. These rates will be revised based on the results of the 2000 census when population data in the necessary detail become available.
