Brief Description:	The Orange County CERT program seeks to mitigate the loss of life and property by providing well-trained community volunteers to assist First Responder professions in the response to a disaster--be it manmade or natural. Orange County CERT enlists professionals from four fire, two law enforecement and one ambulance service to donate their time, experience and expertise in educating community members regarding how to effectively assist emergency management staff in the event of a disaster. Currently, the program has seven (7) CERT volunteers; however, the program's goal is to have 50 fully trained and certified CERT volunteers. Thanks to the cooperative spirit which exists in Southeast Texas, all involved in Orange County CERT are confident this goal will be achieved.

Brief Description:	RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program)in cooperation with the City of Denton will offer CERT training to it's residents. CERT training is a program designed to prepare Denton residents to help themselves, their families and neighbors, in the event of a disaster. This training covers basic skills that are important to know in a disaster when emergency services are not available. Over the course of eight weeks, CERT members receive training in tornado awareness, disaster fire suppression technicques, disaster medical operations, first aid/CPR, light search and rescue as well as team organization and terrorism preparedness. CERT training culminates with a disaster simulation and comprehensive course review. All classes are taught by trained emergency personnel, including firefighters, police and emergency medical services personnel, with an emphasis on hands-on practice.

Brief Description:	C-CERT is the Coppell Community Emergency Response Team. A group of volunteers trained specifically to be able to function as first responders during a disaster until professional fire, police, and EMS units arrive on the scene which could range from a couple of minutes to a couple of hours. C-CERT training promotes a partnership between emergency service providers and the community they serve. Emergency responders will be the instructors for C-CERT training. C-CERT members are then worked into the emergency response capabilities of Coppell and will be utilized as such. If a disaster or emergency strikes Coppell and overwhelms or delays emergency responders, C-CERT members will be activated by the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). C-CERT members will apply their skills to help save and sustain lives until help arrives. Brief Description:	The Fannin County CERT program has established excellent working relationships with the American Red Cross,Fannin County Ham Radio Club (K5FRC). Fannin County CERT members have responded to Hurricane Ivan and Hurricane Denise in the State of Florida. The units also provide support of local events, such as the 4th of July fire work display, community picnics and other community events. The partnership with the Ham radio club has been a win-win situation, As the club provides training for interested CERT members and the members then become part of the local ham club. Brief Description:	Copperas Cove Cert Training will begin in early 2004, once equipment and supplies have been purchased and classes have been set up. We are actively recruiting members for our first CERT Training Class. An information brochure is currently being distributed within the Community. Our classes will consist of 30 students each (5 teams with 6 members each). The Copperas Cove CERT Team will work with the Copperas Cove Fire Dept., Citizens Fire and Public Safety Volunteer Association, local Neighborhood Watch Program, and the Red Cross. The CERT Teams will train with the Fire Dept. and First Responders in mock disaster drills, cribbing, and first aid training. Once a citizen is CERT trained they will be able to provide the following services to their neighborhood: * Increase their neighborhoods disaster readiness. Assess damages after a disaster. Extinguish small fires and teach fire safety. Perform light search and rescue operations. Perform triage and provide medical services to the injured. *Organize procurement of supplies.

Brief Description:	The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is an all-risk, all hazard training program that trains people to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations in their communities. CERT members give critical support to first responders in emergencies, provide immediate assistance to victims, organize spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site, and collect disaster intelligence to support first responder efforts. Throughout the CERT program, citizens are trained to respond effectively and efficiently without placing themselves in danger. Brief Description:	The Orange County CERT program seeks to mitigate the loss of life and property by providing well-trained community volunteers to assist First Responder professions in the response to a disaster--be it manmade or natural. Orange County CERT enlists professionals from four fire, two law enforecement and one ambulance service to donate their time, experience and expertise in educating community members regarding how to effectively assist emergency management staff in the event of a disaster. Currently, the program has seven (7) CERT volunteers; however, the program's goal is to have 50 fully trained and certified CERT volunteers. Brief Description:	Through, the CERT program, citizens are better prepared to respond to an emergency or disaster. This is an essential way for citizens to help secure the homeland by supporting the work of our professional first responders. Project Objectives: 1. Devlop and implement a plan with the Assistance of the El Paso City/County Office of Emergency Management to properly disseminate information to the Far West Texas area regarding the mission of the CERT program and training opportunities; 2. Create and maintain a data base of all teams members; 3. Develop and implement (table top exercise) a plan on how team members will be called upon to assist; 4. Assign members to undertake administrative CERT duties when needed.
