Brief Description: Greater Philadelphia Search & Rescue provides Search and Rescue services as well as community education featuring the FEMA CERT training. The CERT program consists of 16 hours and is available to those civilians requesting the skills necessary to be a successful part of emergency preparedness and response. The basic program focuses on becoming self-sufficient after a disaster, community preparedness and incorporates lectures, video training, hands-on skills, training and exercises in areas such as light search & rescue operations, damage assessment, fire suppression, psychology of disasters, etc. in order to assist during the first 72 hours following a disaster. Brief Description: Teaching individuals in the public sector life saving techniques that can aid them in time of emergency. Brief Description: Chester County in cooperation with the Southeastern Pennsylvania Red Cross has developed the Community Emergency Response Team/Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters (CERT/VOAD) training. By prompting a partnership, Chester County Emergency Services has bridged the gap between the professional emergency response personnel (e.g. police, EMS, and fire) and the community. Chester County designed the training to aid communities in helping each other adequately respond to major disasters. Chester County Department of Emergency Services has focused its training towards the neighborhoods, community organizations, and company workplaces as the targeted audience. In the event of a disaster that overwhelms or delays the community�s professional response, the CERT teams will have the knowledge to save the lives of their loved ones, neighbors, or their own. The CERT/VOAD training is offered at no cost consisting of two classes totaling twelve (12) hours of classroom sessions and provides participants a backpack full of disaster supplies.

Brief Description: 16-hour course designed to provide the citizens who complete the course with the basic skills needed to resond to their community's immediate need in the aftermath of a major disaster until the emergency services responders arrive, and then to assist the responders if needed.
