Brief Description: The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program provides training to the residents of the City of Mesquite to be self-sufficient when a major disaster hits. In this program, individuals will learn disaster skills that will help them as members of a neighborhood emergency response team. If a disaster overwhelms or delays the community's professional first-responders, CERT members can assist others by applying the basic response and organizational skills that they learned during training. The CERT training includes disaster preparedness, fire safety, basic medical operations, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster psychology.

Brief Description: Our program is open to anyone over 18 who lives or works in Washoe County. We currently have 159 trained volunteers. Each is equipped with a backpack filled with response equipment, including a CERT vest, hardhat, cap and identification badge.
