Brief Description: The Alcona County CERT Program has 17 members currently broken down into two geographical teams (north and south Alcona County). Our team received CERT training in September of 2007 with follow-up first aid training in December of 2007. The CERT members recently voted the Alcona County Emergency Manager as their overall leader, who, in turn, appointed a Deputy and the two team leaders. We are a very young CERT team; however, we have much experience in human services type areas. The team contains 7 federally certified chaplains, a township supervisor, a township clerk, a medical doctor, and two registered nurses.

Brief Description: Livonia's professional responders are well trained and prepared to handle everyday emergencies. However, large-scale emergencies or disasters could easily overwhelm Livonia's response capabilities, resulting in possible delays. The primary reason for CERT training is to give people the decision-making, organizational, and practical skills to help them provide immediate assistance to family members, neighbors, and co-workers until professional responders arrive. While many people will respond to those in need without any formal training, the goal of the CERT program is to train and organize our volunteers thoroughly. With this knowledge, they can assist effectively and efficiently without placing themselves in unnecessary danger.
