Brief Description: | Our 20 person team was developed from personnel working in our Roads and Transportation Department. These employees range form labors to engineers, equipment operators to public works coordinators. Our mission is to serve the residents of Jefferson County in times of diasters. Our main concerns are the people of Jefferson County, however in time of diaster everyone living in the state of Alabama should know that Jefferson County CERT would be there for them. Having trained personnel available in post events can be vital the recovery of your community. Damage assessment will be our main objective and sharing these assessments with our local EMA. |

Brief Description: | Chambers County CERT currently has 12 members who have comleted the course, 9 citizens who are waiting on the next class (which is being planned for August), 6 instructors who have taken the T-T-T course (only 4 are active; The original planner moved away, & the other is no longer available to help train), & 7 who are waiting on the T-T-T course (we are expecting to have @ least 15 by July 7th who wish to take this course asap & become instructors). Brief Description: | Alabama Emergency Management Agency coordinates the CERT Train-The-Trainer course for the State of Alabama. Four to Six CERT T-T-T classes are held each year. Alabama has currently in excess of 400 Train-The-Trainers. CERT volunteers in Alabama are coordinated through local EMA offices and perform a variety of community service activities such as assisting in the local emergency operations centers, staging areas, damage assessment, evacuation, public education classes, and other response activities. Alabama has 16 counties participating in the CERT program in FY 2004 Supplemental Grant period. AEMA hopes to add 5-10 more counties in FY 2005 grant period as interest has increased. Alabama CERT members work very closely with local fire departments, law enforcement agencies, county emergency management agencies, and numerous other civic and business groups for the advancement of the tenets of community involvement and the futherance of homeland security. |
