National Preparedness Month FAQs What is National Preparedness Month?
National preparedness is really about community preparedness - about how we can all pitch in at our schools, workplaces, libraries, homes, hospitals and town halls to ready our community for the unthinkable. NPM is a time when communities will come together to do just this. Public Television can play an important role here, and many stations are already serving their communities by convening discussion, disseminating critical information, and reaching out to neglected populations. PTV and NPM are a natural fit.
Who else is participating?
How has Public Television supported NPM in the past?
- Public Television stations aired special preparedness programming from Fred Friendly Seminars, In The Balance
- Public Television stations have created on-air and web campaigns, such as Connecticut Public Broadcasting's On Watch, Houston PBS's Our Community Prepares, and WIPB's local program When Disaster Strikes
