Strategic Compensation Conference Introduces WCPS Logo

Materials provided at the 1999 Stragegic Compensation Conference utilized a new logo for the Workforce Compensation and Performance Service (WCPS), seen at left. It visualizes how different WCPS programs and units work together to support strategic compensation. The upper right quadrant containing the dollar sign and an abstract clock face represents the Office of Compensation Administration. It develops and maintains Governmentwide policy and provides guidance on issues such as: family-friendly leave, pay administration, work schedules, and overtime. They also maintain pay-setting mechanisms for the General Schedule and the Federal Wage System, and much more. The rising performance graph represents the Performance Management and Incentive Awards Division. The division maintains a flexible policy framework for performance appraisal and awards within which agencies can establish results-oriented and merit-based systems for planning, measuring, and rewarding performance at the individual, group, and organizational level. The balanced scales in the lower left quadrant of the logo represent classification programs. The Classification Programs Division develops and maintains position classification and job grading standards to assure that internal equity is maintained throughout the Government by deciding the relative value of work performed. Finally, the entire "puzzle" represents the Total Compensation Policy Center. Its goal is to create a flexible, competitive, and performance-oriented compensation environment that allows the Government to recruit, manage, and retain excellent employees.
