Clinic A clinic is an administrative unit of a hospital outpatient department where ambulatory medical care is provided under the supervision of a physician. The following are examples of clinics included in the National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NHAMCS): general medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, substance abuse (excluding methadone maintenance), and others (e.g., psychiatry and neurology). Clinics excluded from NHAMCS include ambulatory surgery centers, chemotherapy, employee health service, renal dialysis, methadone maintenance, and radiology clinics.
