Grants protect environment in Indian country

Two pueblos in New Mexico have received grants to protect and improve the environment from the Environmental Protection Agency.

Pueblo de Cochiti in north central New Mexico will use the $109,766 grant to create an environmental office, provide community outreach and develop a recycling program.

Laguna Pueblo in central New Mexico will use the $130,000 grant to build administrative infrastructure and capacity to address environmental management, oversight, outreach and solid/hazardous waste issues.
