Office of Vocational Rehabilitation State Board
The State Board of OVR is the policy making body that shapes and is responsible for the overall success of the vocational rehabilitation program in Pennsylvania. The purpose of the Board meeting is to address program activities of OVR and to act on program action items affecting services for persons with disabilities. Advisory Committee for the Blind (ACB)
The ACB was established in 1999 to focus on the unique issues of customers who are blind or visually impaired. The Committee assists OVR in addressing services and program issues in an effort to provide the most efficient and appropriate services possible. State Independent Living Council (SILC)
The SILC targets the unique issues of persons with disabilities living independently in their community in an effort to enable persons with disabilities to fully access community resources, programs and activities. The Council represents persons with all types of disabilities and provides materials in alternate format. Pennsylvania Rehabilitation Council (PRC)
The PRC was established in 1993 as mandated by the Rehabilitation Act Amendments of 1992. The PRC provides citizen oversight to OVR by analyzing and making recommendations regarding all aspects of the vocational rehabilitation program. Recommendations are presented to the OVR State Board and the Executive Director. Materials are provided in alternate format. Pennsylvania Governor's Committee on Employment of People With Disabilities (GCEPD)
The purpose of the GCEPD is to improve the quality of life of Pennsylvanians with disabilities by promoting opportunities to work and live in an environment free of imposed barriers by architecture, communication or attitude. The goals are to increase awareness, increase employment and to promote an accurate perception of the abilities and performance of persons with disabilities. Full GCEPD Board meetings are open to the public with advance notice suggested. Meeting materials are available in alternate format.
