Judy NowakowskiJudy Nowakowski
Chief of Staff, Office of the Director, USGS

Responsibilities: Ms. Nowakowski has been Chief of Staff since October 2006, providing management and policy direction, and ensuring the disposition of official and programmatic matters on behalf of the Director.

Career History and Highlights: Ms. Nowakowski has been a member of the Director's immediate staff since 2000, providing leadership and oversight on a wide range of issues of strategic importance to the Bureau. In 2001, she served as the USGS Liaison to the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Water and Science.

Before joining the Director's Office, she provided oversight for the management of the National Mapping Program's Coordination and Requirements Program. She began her career with the USGS in 1980 as a computer specialist with the Geographic Names Program.
