Robert DoyleRobert Doyle
Deputy Director, Office of the Director, USGS
Hi-res

Career History and Highlights: Mr. Doyle has been with the USGS in his current role since 2003 and has worked in Federal service for over 30 years.

Prior to joining the USGS, he was the Assistant Director/CFO, Business and Fiscal Resources, for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). He has also served as the Director of the Federal Helium Program and was the Director/Deputy Director for Finance and Administration for the U.S. Bureau of Mines for more than 10 years.

Mr. Doyle began his Federal career at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in 1974. While at HUD, he held numerous positions in all of the major functional areas within the management and administrative fields.

Over the past 15 years, Mr. Doyle has been a leading change agent within government. Most recently, as Deputy Director for the USGS, he led a successful effort to restore fiscal integrity to financial operations by achieving a "clean opinion" on their financial audit.

Under his leadership, the BLM was a finalist for the President's FY 2002 Quality Award for budget and performance integration. His knowledge of finance systems and the mortgage insurance underwriting process enabled him to make changes that restored financial integrity to the Federal Housing Insurance Fund. He has directed and managed significant organizational restructuring and downsizing, including the closure of a government Agency.

In 2004, he received the Presidential Rank Award in recognition for his significant accomplishments.

Education: Mr. Doyle has a master's in public administration from Southern Methodist University and a bachelor's in political science from the College of the Holy Cross. He also holds a certification in financial planning.
