Description

The responsibility of the Office of Dietary Supplements is to explore the role of dietary supplements in the improvement of health care. The ODS supports research in the area of dietary supplements; provides advice to other Federal agencies regarding research results related to dietary supplements; and plans, organizes, and supports conferences, workshops, and symposia on scientific topics related to dietary supplements. As an NIH office, the ODS embraces the overall mission of NIH: "...to uncover new knowledge that will lead to better health for everyone." The ODS works in conjunction with other NIH Institutes and Centers, other government agencies, professional organizations, and public advocacy groups.
