About the Science Program Office
The Science Program Office (SPO) is the focal point for basic and applied R&D programs with a primary focus on energy but also encompassing medical, biotechnology, high-energy physics, and advanced scientific computing programs. As part of the Principal Associate Directorate for Science, Technology, and Engineering (PAD-STE), SPO is responsible for the program management and coordination of federally funded research programs and the development of new programs in these research areas.
