There have been a total of eight Olympics held in the U.S. The Games of the Olympiad now consist of two sets of international competitions — the Olympic Games (summer) and the Olympic Winter Games. The games, conducted in separate locations on a four-year cycle, alternate every two years. The most recent Olympics in the U.S. were held in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2002.
