Nearly $360,000 in NRCS Emergency Watershed Protection program (EWP) funds have been awarded to towns in southwestern New Hampshire after multiple rain events during the month of October caused flood-related damage in that part of the State. The NRCS field office staff in Walpole and employees recruited from other New Hampshire NRCS offices worked long days, nights, weekends, and a holiday to complete emergency construction work and damage survey reports to help flood-affected areas qualify for EWP funding.

Chadwick presented an EWP check for $280,000 to  Town of Alstead Selectmen to help with disaster recovery efforts. “Seven lives were lost in this tragic event but we are also thankful that this EWP funding will help re-build Alstead property and businesses,” Chadwick said.

The City of Keene received its first EWP funds for financial and technical assistance for repairs along the Ash Swamp Brook. This much needed emergency repair work kept the city drinking water from being contaminated.
