AGRICULTURAL AIR QUALITY TASK FORCE TO MEET IN HAWAII

WASHINGTON, Nov. 1, 2005—The U.S. Department of Agriculture today announced that the next meeting of the Agricultural Air Quality Task Force will be November 13-15, 2005, in Wailea-Maui, Hawaii.

The meeting will be held at the Renaissance Wailea Beach Resort, 3550 Wailea Alanui Drive, and is open to the public beginning at 8 a.m. for a full day on Sunday, November 13, and on Tuesday, November 15. Public comments will be accepted each day.

The task force is chaired by the Chief of the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and made up of producers, academics, industry representatives and other experts in the fields of agriculture and air quality. Representatives from USDA’s Forest Service, Agricultural Research Service and Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service also participate on the task force.

The task force operates under the terms of the Federal Advisory Committee Act. Its role is to advise the Secretary on issues related to agricultural air quality.
