CHRNS Education & Outreach Activities

Summer Schools

CHRNS conducts an annual one-week summer school, typically in June, in order to acquaint prospective new users with the capabilities of its facilites and to provide actual hands-on training in the operation of the instrumentation.

In even-numbered years the subject is Neutron Small Angle Scattering and Reflectometry from Submicron Structures.
In odd-numbered years the subject is Methods and Applications of Neutron Spectroscopy.

Further information about CHRNS summer schools can be found at http://www.ncnr.nist.gov/summerschool/index.html.

Support for Graduate Student Visits to CHRNS

CHRNS is pleased to offer university-based research groups planning to come to CHRNS for a BTAC-approved experiment, the opporunity to request travel support for an additional graduate student to participate in the experiment. This support is intended to enable prospective thesis students, for example, to acquire some first-hand experience with a technique they may use later in their own research.
