Federal Assistance Granted for Nevada Wildfire

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- A Fire Suppression Assistance Grant was approved yesterday for a 200-acre blaze near Reno, Nev. The Lemon Valley fire is burning in heavy undergrowth, and is being pushed along by winds in excess of 35 mph. Up to 150 houses in a nearby sub-division are threatened, but local officials do not report any evacuations underway at this time.

A number of local fire departments and the State Fire Response Duty Officer have responded to the fire.

FEMA's regional office in San Francisco ( Region IX ) continues to monitor activity surrounding this fire.
