GAP Director, GS-0601-0602-15

Locations:  Guatemala

Responsibilities:  This position is an Epidemiologist/Medical Officer.   The incumbent serves as the Program Director in the country of assignment.  Plans, develop, implements, evaluates, and reports on project goals through the Country Operational Plan (COP).   This involves any of the technical areas of special interest to the Global AIDS Program, including HIV prevention; care and treatment of person’s with HIV/AIDS; and surveillance and capacity development in the host country.  The incumbent will also provide leadership and technical direction to all others engaged in GAP activities, including universities, medical institutions, non-governmental organizations, the Ministry of Health, and other GAP partners.

Responsibilities:  The incumbent participates as a member of a multi-disciplinary health professional team in a GAP country, to address specific Global AIDS prevention projects and to develop and maintain complete information systems supporting international health information needs.  As an agency expert, applies the theoretical foundations of computer science and computer system architecture methodologies adapted to complex scientific research in support of the agency’s mission.  This position is based in a GAP Country Program and entails working with Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator (OGAC), World Health Organization (WHO), and Ministries of Health (MOH) in developing countries and specific governmental or non-governmental organizations that specialize in public health. The incumbent is also responsible for providing program and operational support to the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).  Closes 09/26/2008
