E-Verify (USCIS). E-Verify is an Internet-based system operated by the Department of Homeland Security in partnership with the Social Security Administration that allows participating employers to electronically verify the employment eligibility of their newly hired employees.

IMAGE (ICE). The ICE Mutual Agreement between Government and Employers (IMAGE) program assists employers in targeted sectors to develop a more secure and stable workforce and to enhance fraudulent document awareness through education and training.

INFOPASS (USCIS). A free and convenient Internet-based system that allows the public to make an appointment to speak with an Immigration Information Officer.

Safe Harbor Information Center (ICE). An Internet-based system that answers no-match related questions.

Secure Border Initiative. A comprehensive multi-year plan to secure America's borders and reduce illegal migration.

Securing U.S. Borders and Ports. A multi-layered defense strategy including a number of programs and initiatives.

Special Registration Nonimmigrant Visas (ICE). Nonimmigrant visas are for foreign nationals wishing to enter the U.S. on a temporary basis – whether for tourism, medical treatment, business, temporary work, study or other, similar reasons.

Worksite Enforcement (ICE). Effective worksite enforcement plays an important role in the fight against illegal immigration and in protecting our homeland. comprehensive worksite enforcement strategy that promotes national security, protects critical infrastructure and ensures fair labor standards.

Document and Benefit Fraud Task Forces (ICE). The Departments of Homeland Security, Justice, Labor, and State created Document and Benefit Fraud Task Forces to combat document and immigration benefits fraud. Document fraud includes using fake driver's licenses, birth certificates, Social Security cards, and passports. Benefit fraud is used by people to illegally obtain an immigration benefit--such as U.S. citizenship, permanent residence in the U.S or a valid visa.

CIS Ombudsman Case Problems. Case problems result when U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) customers, despite repeated inquiries with USCIS, have been unable to obtain a resolution to issues in their pending application or petition filed with USCIS.

On August 31, 2007, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California issued a temporary restraining order in AFL-CIO, et al. v. Chertoff, et al. (N.D. Cal. Case No. 07-CV-4472 CRB). The temporary restraining order against the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration enjoins and restrains those agencies from implementing the Final Rule entitled "Safe-Harbor Procedures for Employers Who Receive a No-Match Letter."
