Located in the Division of Extramural Activities, NIAID, the Office of Acquisitions (OA) solicits, negotiates, awards, and administers research and research-related contracts supporting NIAID efforts.

OA's work enables NIAID to conduct research of immunological, infectious, and allergic diseases. To achieve these goals, we keep offerors informed throughout the acquisition process, help contractors administer their contracts, and support the NIAID divisions that oversee research programs.

In performing these roles, we provide customer service to offerors and NIAID staff by meeting their needs quickly and efficiently. We ensure that our contracts make progress towards achieving Institute goals and effectively use tax dollars by acting proactively, using sound business judgment, and developing creative contracting strategies. We foster positive relationships with staff and contractors by building trust and ensuring open communications.

Our efforts support the NIAID mission to develop new knowledge, treatments, and preventions for the immunological, infectious, and allergic diseases that afflict people throughout the world.
