GLOBALSTAR 3 / Delta 7420

The Boeing Company successfully launched a Delta II launch vehicle on June 10, 1999 at 9:48:43 am EDT. The Delta II was launched from Cape Canaveral Air Station, Florida, and carried four GLOBALSTAR satellites to low earth orbit. This was the third GLOBALSTAR mission launched on a Delta. GLOBALSTAR is a low-earth-orbiting (LEO) satellite-based digital telecommunications system that will offer wireless telephone and other telecommunications services (e.g., data transmission, short message service, facsimile and position location) worldwide. GLOBALSTAR service will be delivered through a 48-satellite LEO constellation.
