ABSTRACT

Performing weather forecasts with climate models offers advantages to the climate modeler. These include a better connection to field program data, insight into the origin of errors in climate, and cleaner demonstration of the effects of new parameterizations. This talk will present examples of each of these advantages based upon the results of weather forecasts with the Community Atmosphere Model and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory model.
