Simplified Acquisition

Every year, the Great Plains Region purchases an extraordinary amount of supplies and services that are less than $100,000, which is the Simplified Acquisition Threshold, in which simplified acquisition procedures are used. Purchasing with simplified acquisitions, must first identify if there are any required sources of supply, such as Unicor or Federal Supply Schedule. If no required sources exist, the service/supply may then be acquired through open market competition. It is the goal of the Department of the Interior to support small, small-disadvantaged, minority-owned businesses, therefore the majority of acquisitions below the simplified acquisition threshold, are to be set-aside for small businesses.

All procurement actions greater than $25,000 must be synopsized. All Request for Quotations (RFQ's) over $25,000 are posted on the Federal Business Opportunities (fedbizopps.gov).

Within the our region, there are 6 Area Offices and a Regional Office. Most Area Offices have contracting/acquisition personnel who make purchases up to $100,000. The Area Offices purchasing agents are as follows:
