Scientists are particularly interested in Saturn's moon Titan because it's one of the few known moons with its own dense atmosphere. Titan's atmosphere is also thought to be very similar to what Earth's atmosphere was a long time ago. By learning about Titan, we'll learn about our own planet.

Europe Launches into Astrobiology

At a meeting in Italy last month, roughly 200 scientists from a wide range of disciplines established the European Exo/astrobiology Network to coordinate their work. During the conference, the European Space Agency (ESA) anounced an astrobiology program called Aurora. The proposed effort will extend the search for life beyond Earth with human missions to other planets.
