Neal Baer to be Honored With the Larry Stewart Leadership & Inspiration Award at the 10th Annual PRISM Awards

LOS ANGELES - The Entertainment Industries Council, Inc., (EIC) will present Dr. Neal Baer, Executive Producer of the NBC television series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, with the Larry Stewart Leadership & Inspiration Award at the Annual PRISM Awards which will celebrate its 10th anniversary on April 27 at the Beverly Hills Hotel, it was announced today by Brian Dyak, President and CEO, EIC.

"Neal Baer is being honored for an outstanding body of work that has addressed the issues signified by the PRISM Awards," said Dyak. "During his tenure on the hit series ER, the show earned three PRISM Awards, five Nominations, five Commendations, and three Certificates of Merit. Since joining SVU as Executive Producer, that show has added to his tally an additional Award, plus five Nominations (2 this year), twelve Commendations (3 this year), and three Certificates."

To date, Dr. Baer's work has collectively racked up 4 PRISM Awards, 10 Nominations, 17 Commendations, and 6 Certificates of Merit. One of the highest figures of any single creator! He has been a friend and advisor to the Entertainment Industries Council, Inc. for over a dozen years, participating in events and serving on advisory committees.

The Larry Stewart Leadership and Inspiration Award, which is presented for leadership and inspiration by example, is named in memory of veteran writer/producer/director Larry Stewart, a founding Board Director of EIC. Past recipients include last year's recipient actor Gerald McRaney; TV executive Mindy Herman; actor Martin Sheen; documentary producer Arnold Shapiro; TV show host Leeza Gibbons; talk show host Montel Williams; entertainer Suzanne Somers; actress Michele Lee; Marvel Comics creator Stan Lee; producer Dick Wolf and Tribune Entertainment Company President and CEO Dick Askin.

The 10th Annual PRISM Awards, which is presented by EIC in partnership with the National Institute on Drug Abuse/National Institutes of Health and the FX Network, is the entertainment industry's only annual awards honoring the accurate depiction of drug, alcohol and tobacco use and addiction in movies, television, video, music, interactive and comic book entertainment.


EIC, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1983 by leaders of the entertainment industry to bring the power of the industry to bear on health and social issues. Among the issues EIC addresses are: drug, alcohol, and tobacco use and addiction; firearm safety and injury prevention; sun safety; human trafficking; terrorism and homeland security; mental health; and HIV/AIDS prevention. The National Institute on Drug Abuse is a component of the National Institutes of Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
