Map of Replacement Facilities

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's Capability Replacement Laboratory project is building the replacement facilities and extending the operating life of four facilities in the 300 Area. Enlarged View

PNNL is proposing that it construct several new facilities on its main campus in north Richland to replace the soon-to-be lost 300 Area capabilities and retain four facilities.

These facilities will be funded through a mix of public, private, and Laboratory funding. Federal sponsors include DOE's Office of Science, the National Nuclear Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security. This mix of funding recognizes a tight federal budget and PNNL and Battelle's long history of providing private facilities at the Laboratory.

These new facilities include the Physical Sciences, Computational Sciences, and Biological Sciences facilities. Retained facilities include Buildings 325, 331, 318, and 350. The future campus also includes building the joint PNNL and Washington State University Bioproducts, Sciences, and Engineering Laboratory. These new facilities are essential if PNNL is to remain competitive and also will provide an economic boost for the Tri-Cities as well as Eastern Washington.
