The Cloud and Land Surface Interaction Campaign (CLASIC)

The Cloud and Land Surface Interaction Campaign (CLASIC) was conducted at the ARM Southern Great Plains (SGP) field measurement site during June 2007. The goal of this cross-disciplinary interagency research was to increase the understanding of how land surface processes influence cumulus convection, including human-induced land surface changes. The NASA ER-2 high-altitude aircraft, based in Houston (Ellington Field), conducted six missions over Oklahoma during the month. Three Goddard Laboratory for Atmospheres instrument teams participated: Cloud Physics Lidar (CPL), Cloud Radar System (CRS), and the MODIS Airborne Simulator (MAS). Full Story

Yoram J. Kaufman Symposium on Aerosols, Clouds and Climate
June 7, 2007
The Yoram J. Kaufman Symposium on Aerosols, Clouds and Climate was held May 30, 31 and June 1 at the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center. The purpose of the meeting was to highlight recent scientific results of the research community in the context of Yoram Kaufman’s career. The Symposium coincided with the one year anniversary of Kaufman’s death and what would have been his 59th birthday. Full Story
