June 15, 2004
June 16-17, non-government Earth scientists met at USGS in Reston, VA, to provide input to the government about ongoing planning activities of the Interagency Working Group on Earth Observations (IWGEO). Several focus areas were discussed, including disasters, ocean resources, climate change, agriculture, health, ecology, and water resources. R. Cahalan summarized government activities on climate change, and Chris Justice of UMD, and Kevin Trenberth of NCAR co-led a Q/A and discussion. See IWGEO. Full Story
