The Carson River, from the town of Dayton, flows through a broad floodplain known as the Carson Plains, past a rapidly developing area from Stagecoach to Silver Springs, to Fort Churchill State Park, Nevada's first military base established in 1861. The only streamflow gage maintained by the USGS on this reach of the river is the gage at Fort Churchill (10312000) with a streamflow record from 1911 to the current year.
