    November 16-17, 2000

    Scope of the Workshop

The focus of the 2000 Topic Detection and Tracking workshop was twofold. First to discuss the previous months research on TDT and second to discuss future directions for the TDT research community.

The short one and a half day agenda covered all five of the TDT research tasks and included many presentations by the researchers discussing recent improvements to the technology.

Some highlights of the workshop include a summary of the evaluation results and a summary of the "Lessons Learned" during the past year's research.

As with other NIST sponsored evaluations, each participant was required to document the systems used during the evaluations. These system descriptions papers contain more detailed descriptions of the systems architecture and internal experimental results and analysis.

The TDT project is planning foir next year's evaluation. If you are interested in participating in the evaluation or joining the TDT mailing list, contact speech_webmaster[at]nist.gov.
