Director Names Candice M. Will as Assistant Director
For Office of Professional Responsibility
Washington, D.C. – Director Robert S. Mueller,
III, has named Candice M. Will as Assistant Director
for the Office of Professional Responsibility. Since
September 2003, Ms. Will has been a part of the
FBI’s Office of General Counsel in the National
Security Law Branch.
Ms. Will began her career at the U.S. Department
of Justice in May 1988. After serving for two and
a half years as a trial attorney in the Tax Division,
Ms. Will became the Acting Civil Chief of the U.S.
Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada.
In May 1992, Ms. Will was appointed Deputy Chief
of the General Litigation Section of the Criminal
Division at Main Justice. Ms. Will later served
as an Assistant Counsel in the Justice Department’s
Office of Professional Responsibility for nine years,
where she conducted more than 100 investigations
of the Department’s senior management, attorneys,
and agents.
Director Mueller said, “Candice is a tremendous
asset to the FBI. Her extensive experience will
allow her to ensure that all FBI employees uphold
strong ethical standards, personal accountability,
and high levels of integrity.”
As Assistant Director for the Office of Professional
Responsibility, Ms. Will will enhance the FBI’s
tradition of integrity by generating greater awareness
of expected standards of conduct and by promoting
those standards in the professional lives of all
FBI employees.
Ms. Will was born in Los Alamos, New Mexico, and
received her B.A. from the University of New Mexico
in 1979. She obtained her law degree from St. Louis
University in May, 1982. Prior to joining the U.S.
Department of Justice, Ms. Will practiced law for
several years in Santa Fe, New Mexico, both with
a private firm and the New Mexico Attorney General’s
Office.
