WARREN T. BAMFORD REPORTS AS SPECIAL AGENT IN CHARGE OF THE BOSTON FIELD OFFICE

Washington, D.C. – Director Robert S. Mueller announced the appointment of Warren T. Bamford, a 20-year veteran of the FBI, as the Special Agent in-Charge (SAC) of the FBI’s Boston Field Office. In his new role, SAC Bamford will lead a diverse team of professionals assigned to fighting domestic and international terrorism as well as combatting traditional criminal matters in New England. He is replacing Kenneth W. Kaiser who was promoted Assistant Director Inspection Division at FBI Headquarters.

In his career Mr. Bamford has served in Washington, New Haven, and Baltimore Field Offices where he worked extensively in the violent crime program. His experience includes being a member of the Hostage Rescue Team (HRT), a SWAT team leader in New Haven, and as a supervisor of a Safe Streets Task Force in the Washington D.C. area.

Mr. Bamford has wide-ranging Counterterrorism experience as well having served as an Assistant Section Chief of the Domestic Terrorism Operations Section, as an Assistant Special Agent in-Charge (ASAC) in the FBI’s Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG) where he oversaw the FBI’s crisis management, negotiation, Bomb Data Center, Hazardous Devices Response, and Rapid Deployment Programs.

Mr. Bamford served as Section Chief of the Strategic Information and Operations Center (SIOC) at FBI Headquarters. In this capacity, he helped manage crisis and special events by ensuring the timely and effective flow of operational information between field offices, Headquarters executives, substantive units, and other government agencies.

Most recently Mr. Bamford served as the Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office’s Counterterrorism and Intelligence Division, where he had oversight of approximately 450 investigative and analytical personnel. In addition, he had responsibility for all crisis response assets and the management of all special events within the division.

Mr. Bamford graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from St. Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire in 1980. He was commissioned as a Marine Corps Officer after graduation and served until 1986, when he entered on duty as a Special Agent with the FBI.
