Lisa Boyette joined the Cartilage Biology and Orthopaedics Branch in 2007 following her medical training at the University of Virginia. She received a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2002, where she worked primarily on intravital video microscopy technologies and modeling of oxygen transport in microcirculation. She is currently working on a Ph.D. in Molecular Physiology and Biological Physics through an Independent Graduate Partnership Program between the NIH and the University of Virginia. Her dissertation research focuses on developing techniques for reprogramming human mesenchymal stem cells to a more potent state for applications in cell-based clinical therapies, as well as understanding related cellular mechanisms.
