Abstract
This interchange uses QuickScat data to clarify the large-scale flow seen in the previously published Karman vortices (shedding from Alejandro Selkirk Island in the South Pacific Ocean), and distinguishes this flow from the structure of the vortex street and the individual vortices themselves, which appear similar to those of classic laboratory experiments of vortices shedding from a cylindrical obstacle.
