    What are the raw materials for DNA?

    Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is a long polymer composed of nucleotides. Each nucleotide is made up of a sugar, a base, and a phosphate group. At the level of atoms, the composition of DNA is mostly carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen (often called CHON) -- the basic elements of all organic compounds. David Morrison
