NTIA ROUNDTABLE TO ADDRESS CONVERGENCE ISSUES
Telephone Mapping Protocol Known As "ENUM" Among Topics on Agenda Wednesday, August 14 First session from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Room 4830 The Commerce Department's National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) on Wednesday, August 14, will host a roundtable to address issues relating to the convergence of communications technologies, including the Telephone Number Mapping (ENUM) Protocol. The ENUM Protocol creates a single identifier based on a user's public telephone number that could be used across various communications networks. The roundtable will be open to the public and will be chaired by NTIA Deputy Assistant Secretary Michael D. Gallagher. It will involve two sessions with leading U.S. experts in the field. The first session will focus on technology and competition issues and the second session will address policy issues in the areas of privacy, security and authentication.
