Director Connie L. Patrick was selected as the fifth Director of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center on July 29, 2002.

The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center trains the majority of federal officers and agents.  It services more than 80 federal agencies; provides training to state, local and international police in selected advanced programs; graduates approximately 48,000 students annually; and is the largest law enforcement training operation throughout the country.

Headquartered on 1,500 acres at Glynco, near Brunswick, Georgia, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center also operates facilities in Artesia, New Mexico; Charleston, South Carolina; Cheltenham, Maryland; and the International Law Enforcement Academies at Gaborone, Botswana and El Salvador.  The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center’s annual budget exceeds $282 million.

Director Patrick began her law enforcement career in 1976 as a deputy with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.  In 1981, she was assigned as a Special Agent with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).  She was promoted to Special Agent Supervisor and worked in both the Orlando and Tampa offices.  While assigned to the Tampa office, Director Patrick became the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Tampa Regional Operations Bureau.  She later became the Special Agent in Charge of the FDLE Intelligence and Investigative Support Bureau; and the Director of the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute in Tallahassee.  In 1995, the FDLE appointed her as Director of the Division of Human Resources and Training.

Director Patrick joined the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center as the Director of General Training in March 1996, directing the faculty and staff in the development and management of programs in support of basic, advanced, and specialized law enforcement training.   Two years later, she was promoted to the Associate Director, Planning and Resources.  In that position she served as the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center’s Chief Financial Officer as well as the Environmental Officer.  Her leadership responsibilities also encompassed the entire administrative function for the FLETC.

Just prior to being selected for the FLETC Directorship, she served as the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center’s Associate Director for Planning and Workforce Development.  In that position, she directed Strategic Planning, Federal Law Enforcement Accreditation, Workforce Planning and programs including, but not limited to, Critical Incident Stress Management, Ombudsman, and EEO.  She also served as the Chief Human Capital Officer.

Director Patrick holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida.  She is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia; the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute; and the Federal Executive Institute.  She is active in many international and national law enforcement organizations, as well as local civic clubs and councils.

Director Patrick was awarded the Presidential Distinguished Rank Award, the highest civil service award in 2005, and she received the Presidential Meritorious Rank Award in 2001.

Director Patrick is married to John and they have four children, and one grandchild.
