John Kneuer Named Deputy Assistant Secretary for Communications and Information

Assistant Secretary for Communications and Information Michael D. Gallagher announced today the appointment of John M.R. Kneuer as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Communications and Information. DAS Kneuer joined NTIA on October 27, 2003 as Counselor to the Assistant Secretary.

“From the day he joined NTIA, John has been my right hand,” Assistant Secretary Gallagher said. “He’s had a significant impact in helping NTIA advance the Bush Administration’s telecommunications and technology agenda. John had a central role in the formulation of our Spectrum Policy for the 21st Century, when he proved that he is a team player with outstanding management ability.”

Kneuer became associated with the firm of Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, McPherson, and Hand (now known as Piper Rudnick) in 1998. Prior to that, he was executive director for government relations at the Industrial Telecommunications Association (1997-98) and an attorney-advisor in the commercial wireless division of the FCC’s wireless bureau (1996-97). He received B.A. and J.D. degrees from the Catholic University of America.
