INVASIVE MUSSELS THREATEN--INCREASED BOAT INSPECTIONS MAY BE CONSIDERED
Concern over the threat of destructive mussels may prompt the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Governing Board to consider Wednesday a rule requiring that boat launches at the Lake be closed when qualified inspectors are not present.

SHOREZONE ORDINANCE WORKSHOP SEPTEMBER 25
Twenty years in the making, new shorezone regulations for Lake Tahoe will be discussed in a special workshop in preparation for a final vote in October. For the latest program details and updates, look at the shorezone page.

FINAL KINGS BEACH COMMERCIAL CORE PROJECT UPDATE
The final joint environmental impact study between Placer County and TRPA has been certified by the TRPA Governing Board, but the county's preferred alternative was not approved. The TRPA board voted to reconsider its decision on the preferred alternative at its July 23 meeting in Kings Beach (see the Press Room for detaisl). The project may be reheard as soon as October.

LIVING WITH FIRE
TRPA worked with the Nevada Fire Safe Council, University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, and local fire districts to create a guide to creating defensible space in Lake Tahoe's fragile environment. This is a large file (3.5 MB) and may require long download times.

TRPA encourages you to attend the monthly meetings to stay up to date and provide input on what is important to Lake Tahoe. Many decisions affecting environmental quality are also made at public meetings of the Advisory Planning Commission and TRPA Hearings Officer.
