Truly a Land of Many Uses, the Eldorado National Forest provides diverse recreational opportunities to the public. The Forest offers every visitor the chance to enjoy nature and be outdoors. WHEELED MOTOR VEHICLE RESTRICTIONS

IMPORTANT NOTICE

The Forest Service is complying with a court order to keep all wheeled motorized travel in the Eldorado National Forest on system roads and trails. Beginning August 25, 2005, wheeled motor vehicles are allowed to operate only on the 2,200 miles of system roads and motorized trails shown as open on the new Motorized Vehicle Restrictions Map, available free-of-charge. The National Forest Transporation System of roads includes paved, graveled and dirt roads. Paved roads are legal assuming the vehicle is licensed to operate on a highway. All other routes have been closed by court order and interim Forest Order. The Motor Vehicle Restrictions Map is now available free-of-charge at all
Eldorado National Forest offices.

Both sides of the map are available for download from our maps webpage.

DEVELOPED CAMPING

The Eldorado National Forest has over 70 developed facilities including family and group campgrounds, picnic areas, boatramps, and rental cabins.  More information about Developed Camping.

DISPERSED CAMPING

FISHING

The angler has many opportnities to experience fine fishing on this forest.  More information about Fishing.

MOTORIZED USE TRAILS

Off-Highway Vehicle users will find many opportunities for off-road enjoyment in the Eldorado National Forest.  More information about Motorized Use Trails.

NON-MOTORIZED USE TRAILS

Many non-motorized trails are open to hikers, cyclists and equestrian users.  More information about Non-Motorized Use Trails.

RECREATION RESIDENCES

This program gives private citizens the opportunity to own a single family cabin in designated areas on National Forest land.  More information about Recreation Residences.

RENTAL CABINS

The Eldorado National Forest has three cabin facilities available for rental.  More information about Rental Cabins.

SHOOTING

Although no designated shooting areas exist on the forest, plinking and target shooting are allowed on National Forest land.  More information about Shooting.
