Leadership

The Office of Policy is led by Assistant Secretary for Policy Stewart A. Baker  

Components

Office of Policy Development ensures a coordinated approach to the unique policy challenges faced by the Department is adopted and advocated within its components and ensures that Department interests are effectively portrayed in national and international policy making apparatuses.  

Office of Strategic Plans articulates the long term view to the Department and translates the Secretary’s strategic priorities into capstone planning products that drive integration, component priorities, and the tough resource allocation decisions.

Office of International Relations  plays a central role in developing the Department’s strategy for pushing the Department’s mission overseas and actively engage foreign allies to improve international cooperation for immigration policy, visa security, aviation security, border security and training, law enforcement, and cargo security.

Office of Immigration Statistics leads the development of statistical information useful to make decisions and analyze the effects of immigration in the United States.

Private Sector Office  provides America’s private sector with a direct line of communication to the Department of Homeland Security, utilizes information received from the private sector, and promotes Department policies to the private sector.

Homeland Security Advisory Council  leverages the experience, expertise, and national and global connections of its members to provide the Secretary real-time, real-world, sensing and independent advice to support decision-making across the spectrum of homeland security operations.
