Janetos Authors Chapter in Working Group II Report for Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change

Congratulations to Dr. Anthony Janetos, co-author in the Fourth Assessment Report from the United Nation's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Released on April 6 from Brussels, Belgium, Climate Change Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability presents years of research by IPCC Working Group II. In their contribution, Janetos and his co-authors present key policy-relevant findings concerning the relationship between observed and projected effects of climate in the natural and human environment.

Three separate Working Groups contribute to the Assessment, which analyzes the current scientific understanding of impacts of climate change on natural, managed and human systems, the capacity of these systems to adapt and their vulnerability. The Fourth Assessment Report, titled Climate Change 2007, builds upon past IPCC assessments and incorporates new knowledge gained since the Third Assessment.

Janetos was a lead author for chapter 20 of the Working Group II contribution, describing the interrelationships of climate change, sustainable development, and adaptation. He is the director of the Joint Global Change Research Institute, a collaborative partnership between Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and the University of Maryland.
