These are some terms that are specifically related to HUD's Office of Community Planning and Development (CPD) programs or functions.

Family
means a household composed of two or more related persons. The term family also includes one or more eligible persons living with another person or persons who are determined to be important to their care or well being, and the surviving member or members of any family described in this definition who were living in a unit assisted under the HOPWA program with the person with AIDS at the time of his or her death.

Federal Housing Administration (FHA) Mortgage Insurance Programs
FHA administers a variety of single-family mortgage insurance programs designed to make homeownership more readily available. These programs operate through HUD-approved lending institutions such as banks, savings and loan associations, and mortgage companies.

Final Rule
The Final HOME Rule was published at 24 CFR Part 92 on September 16, 1996, and became effective on October 16, 1996.

Formula city or county
means a metropolitan city or urban county that is eligible to receive an allocation of grant amounts under Sec. 576.5.
