An announcement of opportunity (AO-2) for new key projects will be released through NASA Headquarters.
The Michelson Science Center expects to issue the first General Observer call for proposals.
The GO program will solicit proposals for observing time on SIM, and will be unrestricted in scientific scope and size of request. Guidelines will be posted on the MSC website.
The objective of this program is to verify the astrometric
stability of a catalog of stars to be used as the reference grid for
SIM's wide-angle astrometric science. The RFP was closed as of April 30, 2003.

A second NRA NRA 99-OSS-04 under the SIM Preparatory Science Program was released on July 23, 1999. Awards were made in March 2000. This NRA was funded jointly with the National Science Foundation. NASA is considering further NRAs under this program. The following proposals were selected to receive awards.
