Role of Congressional Affairs Group The Congressional Affairs Group in the Office of Legislation are responsible for the following: - Serves as the CMS focal point for all congressional liaison activities;
- Responds to congressional inquiries and constituent concerns related to Medicare, Medicaid, State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), and other health care financing issues;
- Organizes briefings requested by Congressmen and congressional staff; and
- Notifies Congress of specific CMS activities of interest to Congress and congressional staff.
