1992Dayton Area Health Plan Inc.102-276This legislation allows the Dayton Area Health Plan, Inc. to continue to serve as an HMO for Medicaid recipients in Montgomery County, Ohio from May 1, 1992 through January 1994. Without this legislation, the Dayton Area Health Plan, Inc. would not meet the enrollment composition requirements for Medicaid HMOs.
1982Virgin Islands Tax Reduction Act97-455The Virgin Islands Tax Reduction Act, enacted January 12, 1983, contains amendments pertaining to continuing disability investigations, including two provisions affecting Medicare.
1982Technical Corrections Act of 198297-448The Technical Corrections Act of 1982, enacted January 12, 1983, makes a number of technical and minor policy changes to recent tax legislation. Among the changes related to HCFA are clarification of the definition of Medicare-qualified Federal employment, revision of the basis for calculating Federal Medicaid payments under the 1981 OBRA growth targets, and directions to the Secretary to disregard PSRO evaluations for two quarters of FY 1982.
1983Orphan Drug Act97-14The Orphan Drug Act, H.R. 5238, is a law that facilitates the development of drugs for rare diseases and conditions. It also has a number of provisions that affect home health services.
1982Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 198297-248On September 3, 1982, the President signed into law H.R. 4961, the Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 1982. This new public law includes many provisions affecting the Medicare, Medicaid, and PSRO programs.
1980Mental Health Systems Act of 198096-398On October 7, 1980, President Carter signed into law the Mental Health Systems Act. Title IX of the Act requires most States to provide approved mechanized claims processing and information retrieval systems in order to receive full payment for administrative costs under Medicaid.
1992Veterans' Benefits Act of 1992102-568On October 29, 1992, the President signed into law H.R 5008, the Veterans' Benefits Act of 1992. Among other things, this legislation is intended to revise the rates of dependency and indemnity compensation payable to surviving spouses of certain service-disabled veterans, and to provide supplemental service disabled veterans' insurance for totally disabled veterans.
1992Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992102-539On October 27, 1992, the President signed into law H.R. 6182, the Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992. This law established national quality standards for all facilities providing mammography services in the U.S. As of October 1, 1994, facilities will be required to be certified by the Secretary or a state, if the Secretary has approved the state program.
1986Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 198699-509On October 21, 1986 the President signed into law H.R. 5300, the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1986, which included provisions pertaining to both the Medicare and Medicaid programs.
1994Social Security Act Amendments of 1994103-432On October 2, 1994, the President signed into law H.R. 5252, the Social Security Act Amendments of 1994. The law makes numerous miscellaneous and technical corrections to various titles of the Social Security Act. This summary describes those changes that pertain to the Medicare program and (indirectly) Medicaid eligibility requirements.
