1988 | Legislative Summary for Family Support Act of 1988 | 100-485 | On October 13, 1988, the President signed into law H.R. 1720. The law, popularly known as “welfare reform,” contains far-reaching changes to the AFDC and child support enforcement programs under Title IV of the Social Security Act. It also significantly expands the duration and scope of provisions for continuation of Medicaid coverage for families losing AFDC cash assistance, and includes technical corrections to the Medicare Catastrophic Coverage Act of 1988 and other miscellaneous provisions. |
1992 | Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992 | 102-539 | On October 27, 1992, the President signed into law H.R. 6182, the Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992. This law established national quality standards for all facilities providing mammography services in the U.S. As of October 1, 1994, facilities will be required to be certified by the Secretary or a state, if the Secretary has approved the state program. |
